As the Jets and Patriots renew their AFC East rivalry in prime time, one team seems poised for revolution while the other braces for a crash landing.
New England (7-3) remains the class of the AFC. After taking a scrappy conference upstart in Indianapolis, and thrashing them in their Week 11 game, the Patriots remain unchallenged by teams not named "Houston Texans." However, their win against the Colts came at a high price. Tight end Rob Gronkowski reportedly broke his forearm in that game, and almost certainly will be unavailable for this one.
The Jets (4-6) stuck it out for a win against a young St. Louis Rams team in Week 11, by essentially taking the ball out of Mark Sanchez's hands. The Jets ran the ball over 30 times against the St. Louis D, and limiting their struggling quarterback to just 20 throws. The plan worked, but against a Patriots defense that has been stingier against the run than the pass, Gang Green might consider reversing field on Turkey Day.
