Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants Preview and Predictions

Aaron NaglerNFL National Lead WriterJanuary 9, 2017

The Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have been playing less-than-inspired football the last couple weeks. Obviously the Giants are coming off their bye, while the Packers came out of their bye with a less-than-inspired performance against the Detroit Lions.

While the Packers and Aaron Rodgers still seem to be able to find offensive playmakers who can step up when others go down, the Giants have had problems getting anyone to take over when Hakeem Nicks or Victor Cruz are slowed down.

Much is made of the Giants struggles in November, but to me it's really nothing more than a need to get back to the fundamentals of the game—even simplifying it. It's not like the defending champs became a bad team because the calendar changed. They just haven't been playing disciplined football, and the bye week was the perfect opportunity for them to address it.

In the video above, we look at some of the biggest matchups in this game and give our predictions on who we think will win.

As you can see in the video, to me the entire thing hinges on the Giants front four. Jason Pierre Paul made Marshall Newhouse's life miserable last year, and you have to think McCarthy will try to get him a bunch of help this time around.

Give us your thoughts in the comments below on which matchups you'll be watching and who you think will win the game.
