AC Milan's 20-year-old star came through once again in a clutch moment.

Stephan El Shaarawy scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season to pull AC Milan level and avoid defeat with a 2-2 draw at Napoli.

It could have easily been 2-0 Milan, but goalkeeper Christian Abbiati made two awful attempts to keep Napoli out of the net and they cost Milan all three points.

Gokhan Inler put Napoli ahead within five minutes. Inler took a swing from about 30 yards out and sent a low ball in towards the net. Abbiati lunged the wrong way and could not recover in time to stop the ball from going in.

The Azzurri scored again on the half hour mark when Lorenzo Insigne sent a shot at Abbiati, who went down feet first and had the ball deflect off his legs and behind him into the net.

At 2-0 at the San Paolo, it looked like Milan would certainly fall to defeat for the seventh time this season.

Fortunately for Milan, they have El Shaarawy.

Max Allegri will certainly be hoping that the 20-year-old can get a break one of these days. But at the moment, he is Milan's only scoring option and is in great form, having scored against France for the Italian national team in the midweek fixture.

In the 44th minute, he found the net for the ninth time this season with an off-angle turning strike from the top of the box that easily beat Morgan De Sanctis.

With nine minutes left, El Shaarawy found the equalizer. Milan carried the ball into the attacking third and Robinho, who had just entered the match for Kevin-Prince Boateng, found the youngster slipping through the back door of the defense. El Shaarawy got on the end of the through ball and with the simplest of touches slipped the ball past De Sanctis.

Milan looked good for most of the match. The XI put out by Allegri was one of the best possible lineups Milan could field. It may not be the most talented, but it was one of the most energetic and best-working.

Milan will have a busy week coming up. They travel to Belgium to play Anderlecht in the Champions League on Wednesday before a northern derby against Juventus at the San Siro.
