The UFC is brilliant when it comes to choosing fights for FX that will excite fans. Pitting kickboxing machine Cyrille Diabate against former heavyweight basher Chad Griggs ensured a slugfest that would end violently.

Instead, Diabate, a kickboxing champion, got his first UFC victory by way of submission, winning with a rear-naked choke in the bout's first round.

What We'll Remember About This Fight

Chad Griggs didn't look good for a single moment of this contest. Diabate dominated this fight from the moment he landed his first punch.

What We Learned About Cyrille Diabate

He isn't a one-dimensional striker like many of us thought. This fight didn't last long, but "The Snake" spent most of it utilizing superior ground work en route to a quick rear-naked choke.

What We Learned About Chad Griggs

That he is capable of cutting to light heavyweight. Other than that, this performance is almost as embarrassing as the first-round beating he took from Travis Browne earlier this year.

What's Next for Cyrille Diabate

Now standing 4-2 in the UFC, Diabate is one of the division's best strikers, and he has finally won consecutive bouts inside the Octagon. The UFC will likely pair him with another exciting striker in order to produce highlight-reel finishes. Expect to see him meet newcomers Ryan Jimmo or Jimi Manuwa in his next contest.

What's Next for Chad Griggs

A pink slip.

Griggs has looked awful in both of his UFC performances. He has no business competing with the best in the world. Perhaps a boxing match with Kimbo Slice would be more his speed.
