Every year people wonder who the next big star will be in the NFL. I am here to inform you about who I believe, and after the article you should also believe, the players that are ready to break out and take over the NFL.
Pittburgh Steeler's LaMarr Woodley is primed to be a dominant force in the NFL for the next few years.
Woodley, for you who don't know, is the strong outside linebacker for the Super Bowl champion Steelers.
He was drafted in 2007, out of Michigan by the Steelers.
That season, he played in 13 games his rookie year compiling 14 tackles and four sacks. These are pretty decent stats considering he didn't start one game.
Then his second year happened.
In 2008, Woodley started to understand what was asked of him. He better understood the playbook and boy did it show. Woodley put up 60 tackles, two forced fumbles, a pick and 11.5 sacks, which ranked ninth in the NFL.
So you're thinking he already has broken out. Hahaha no.
Woodley showed something in both years he was the NFL that not one person can deny. He has shown that when push comes to shove, he will get to the QB.
What am I talking about? I am talking about the playoffs.
Woodley is at his best in the playoffs and in truth might be the best pass rusher in playoff history by the end of his career.
You see, Woodley has recorded two sacks in every single playoff game he has been in.
Now I know that he has only played in four playoff games, but he already holds the record for most consecutive playoff games with multiple sacks. This means when the games matter most, he is there to make the play.
Woodley is going to be one of the best, if not the best, linebackers of this generation.
Sound like a bold statement?
Well it is, but I believe that Woodley will break out in a bigger way next season. There is no telling how good he can be.
He has an evil streak and is surrounded by the best defensive minds in the NFL. Those two aspects alone should be enough proof that he is indeed going to be one of "The Next BIG Things."
