With one of the WWE’s "big four" pay-per-views, Survivor Series, scheduled for Sunday, the excitement over the huge event has the WWE Universe at a fever pitch.

While there is no question that the WWE did not blow out this event as they once did, this is still one of the biggest PPVs of the year.

If you love the WWE action despite the mediocre build to this event, Survivor Series will be right up your alley. Add in two major championships being contested, and this could be one of the more interesting events of 2012.

With the road to WrestleMania 29 on the horizon, what better place to start the heavy push toward WWE’s biggest show than Survivor Series?

Potential Spoilers

Rumor: After suffering a concussion and a strained shoulder against Kane during the filming of WWE’s Main Event Tuesday (h/t WWE.com), one-half of Team Rhodes Scholars, Cody Rhodes, has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s Survivor Series.

Justin LaBar of WrestleZone is reporting on Rhodes’ status for Sunday’s PPV:

WZ has learned from sources that Cody Rhodes is being considered doubtful to participate in this Sunday's Survivor Series elimination match. As of now, names that have been brought up internally are Jack Swagger or the new character of Fandango to fill the spot on Team Ziggler.

Our Take: While Rhodes is a huge part of the show and the traditional Survivor Series match, the WWE has to play the concussion issue safe. With so much wear and tear on each of the WWE superstars and the amount of days they work, there is no question that sitting him on the shelf until fully healed must be the company’s top priority.

If he misses the show, look for Tensai to get the nod as Team Ziggler’s fifth member.

Main Event Preview and Prediction

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Ryback

As intriguing as this three-way WWE Title match is between John Cena, Ryback and defending champion CM Punk, this entire match is just a formality.

Punk will face The Rock at the Royal Rumble for the WWE title; that means he will retain at Survivor Series and at the next PPV, TLC.

While the WWE will undoubtedly make both Cena and Ryback look as strong as possible, Punk will steal the win in the waning moments of the match and walk away looking like an even bigger weasel than before.

That’s what the WWE wants from its heel champion.

Not only will Punk continue his title reign through Survivor Series, he will hold it long enough to pass legends like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Cena in terms of longest reigns in history.

We could be watching the birth of the next legend with Punk’s current streak.

Predicted Winner: CM Punk
