Alabama 49, Western Carolina 0—FINAL SCORE

Alabama hosted Western Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 17 and came away with the lopsided victory. Western Carolina came away with almost half-a-million dollars for their performance in one of the most storied venues in college football.

Alabama had some hiccups throughout the game that Nick Saban will undoubtedly be addressing until they are no longer issues. Alabama had much success with its first string, but was still giving up some crucial third downs throughout the game.

No, they weren't crucial as far as today's score was concerned, but the issues did show that Alabama still has a couple of hurdles to clear before they're ready for the SEC title game. Luckily, Auburn will give Alabama another opportunity to improve during rivalry weekend.

Western Carolina wins the "perseverance" award for the game, as the Catamounts were fighting for yardage until the final whistle blew. If they take nothing else away from that game, that would be enough to help build a championship-level program in the FCS.
