Ray McDonald received a hefty fine from the NFL this week -- $21,000 for helmet-to-helmet contact with Rams quarterback Sam Bradford. McDonald was penalized for roughing the passer on the play and could have been penalized for the same thing three plays later.

Neither Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar nor 49ers safety Dashon Goldson received fines. Dunbar struck Alex Smith in the shoulder and the back of the helmet on a quarterback run. Smith, however, didn't slide on the play, which made the hit legal. Goldson was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for taking off his helmet on the field.
