WWE Officials Working on Creative Ideas for Indy Superstar Ricky Reyes

According to WrestlingInc.com (citing PWInsider as its source), "WWE officials have a strong interest in independent wrestler Ricky Reyes."

For those not familiar with Ricky Reyes' work, he is an independent wrestler who has worked for promotions such as Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and the World Wrestling Council.

Reyes has also been part of WWE television in the past. His debut with the company was against Ryback in a short handicapped squash match shown on the May 25, 2012 episode of SmackDown! Reyes competed under the name of Brian Edwards for this match.

Reyes has also had key matches in his career against current WWE Champion CM Punk, whom Reyes defeated during their time together in Ring of Honor and won the promotion's Tag Team Championship from.

The Wrestling Inc article states veteran WWE Superstars Triple H and William Regal have both been "complementary of Reyes' work." The article also claims that WWE writers "have been discussing potential character ideas for Reyes."

Reyes' addition to the WWE roster could be a welcomed one. His work in previous promotions has always been solid and with an increased interest in Cruiserweights, Reyes' presence could be a deciding factor to reviving the formerly popular wrestling division.

As for Reyes potential character on WWE, let's hope that the WWE's creative team for once avoids depicting a Latino as a thug from the streets (i.e. Hunico, Mexicools, Benicio Salazar).
