The Program: Previewing Notre Dame and USC for Their Season Finale
The season finale for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is over a week away, but with the holiday quickly approaching we wanted to make sure you all know the matchup is on everyone's mind.
Yes, USC has to take care of business against UCLA; the Bruins are a team that most certainly can beat this porous Trojans defense. Notre Dame also has to avoid the upset against a less-than-stellar Wake Forest team. However, it never hurts to get your feet on the ground early and in this episode of The Program we do just that.
Matt Barkley and the University of Southern California offense are dangerous. Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, the latter a true Heisman-caliber player, are torching defenses by catching long bombs and turning short completions into big gainers.
We take a look at that aspect of the offense, as well as the ground game of the Trojans that has left much to be desired. Can Notre Dame stop the Trojans' passing attack the same way they quieted Oklahoma on the road?
On offense Notre Dame combines the two aspects of the game that USC has been fully hapless against this season, the zone-read and a power ground game. Has Monte Kiffin found a way to repair the defense to make them ready to shut down Everett Golson? Has the defensive line of USC recovered from being pushed around by Oregon of all teams?
We've got a big one coming up in just over a week, folks, and there are plenty of things to discuss!
