FULL TIME
Russia 2-2 USA
Well, there were plenty of issues for the U.S. today, but it's a good result in the end.
The midfield couldn't hold the ball, and the defense varied between below average and poor.
But we also got a first look at Josh Gatt. Juan Agudelo and Terrence Boyd set up goals with hold-up play.
And Michael Bradley scored a top-class volleyed goal.
So there's lots of work to do ahead of the final round of World Cup qualifying. But it's a satisfying result in a match the U.S. probably should have lost.
90+5
One more save for Howard, this time an easy one.
He's obviously the man of the match for the U.S.
There's the final whistle. Hardly deserved, but we'll take it.
MORE ON THE GOAL
The U.S. lumps a long ball forward. Terrence Boyd wins it and tees up Diskerud, whose first-time shot is deflected into the net.
Wow.
90+3 GOAL USA!
Mix Diskerud scores for the US!

Have to start calling Tim Howard, The Butcher, because nobody holds onto more bacon than him.

Or, I suppose, the Pig Farmer. But that doesn't sound as good.

89'—SAVE
Tim Howard saves again for the U.S. The defense has been really shaky today.
87'—US SUBS
Terrence Boyd and Mix Diskerud enter the match.
Jozy Altidore and Geoff Cameron depart.
The penalty incident came off a set piece in the U.S. end. The kick was taken quickly and the U.S. defense looked unprepared.
Also looked like Tim Howard had the situation handled before Goodson fouled the attacker.
Tough blow for the U.S.

84'—GOAL!
Roman Shirokov converts the penalty confidently.
83'—PENALTY
Clarence Goodson pushes over a Russian player in the box and concedes a penalty. Earns a yellow card too.
Stupid.

81'—SHOT!
Altidore cuts back for Jermaine Jones, who curls a shot way over the bar.
Wow!
Another Russian sub to pass along. This time, it IS their final change.
Denis Cheryshev replaces Maksim Grigoryev, who was himself a sub in the first half.

I wonder is anyone that was part of the Aston Villa coaching staff watching this and thinking how wrong they were about Michael Bradley

73'—SUB
Maurice Edu replaces Danny Williams for the U.S.
73'—CHANCE!
Jermaine Jones dribbles to the endline on the left and crosses back to Kljestan, who knocks down a header for Bradley.
Bradley rushes his header and pops it over the goal. Should have let the ball drop to his foot.
Decent chance for the U.S.

70'—OOH!
Fabian Johnson bursts forward from left back and crosses for Jozy Altidore. The flag stays down, but Altidore's first touch is poor and the chance is wasted.
RUSSIA SUB
Russia made a sub moments ago. Artem Dzyba replaced the dangerous Kokorin.

Igor Denisov shoots wide after pulling down a corner on the edge of the box.
The U.S. defense looks vulnerable. What's new?

Howard saves the initial effort, then tips over a lobbed shot.
