Minnesota lost to Michigan State 56-64 in the Big Ten Tournament after finishing in a tie for 7th place in the regular season standings. 2nd year coach Tubby Smith has the Gophers back in the NCAA tourney for the first time in four years. Minnesota ranked 4th in the Big Ten on offense, scoring 66.5 points per game and finished 6th in team defense allowing 61.1 points per game.

 

Texas was defeated by the Baylor Bears 70-76 in the Big Twelve Tournament on Friday. The Longhorns had beaten Baylor in their other two meetings during the season. Texas finished in a four way tie for forth place in the Big Twelve with a 9-7 conference record. Texas ranked 8th in the conference in scoring at 72.3 points a game while holding opponents to 65.5 points a game which ranked 2nd in the Big Ten.
