The Charlotte Bobcats have agreed to send shooting guard Matt Carroll to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for power forward Hakim Warrick.

Both players are veteran journeyman in their 30s who have factored little into their teams' plans this season.

This is Carroll’s 10th season in the league out of Notre Dame. He is 32 years old and averaged 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds for Charlotte last season in 11.2 minutes per game.

He is currently in his second stint with the Bobcats and had the best season of his career with the team in the 2006-07 season, when he averaged 12.1 points per game in 26.1 minutes each night.

Since then, Carroll has been a solid but unspectacular role player who rarely makes mistakes, but also scarcely stands out. He has played just six minutes for Charlotte this season.

In exchange for Carroll, the Bobcats will receive an athletic and versatile forward in Warrick. The 30-year-old out of Syracuse spent the last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns and averaged 6.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game last year.

At his peak with Memphis in the 2006-07 season, he averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds, but he has not equaled either total since then. He has played just seven minutes for the Hornets this season.

Both players are role players who will add depth to these young and improving rosters, although neither player is likely to have a major impact in his new home.
