The Boston Celtics held off a late surge by the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Monday night to come away with a 101-95 victory.

The Celtics jumped out to a 58-46 lead after the first two quarters, led by Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce, but the Bulls began to storm back in the fourth quarter at United Center as Joakim Noah and Luol Deng did damage.

But it was not to be, as Rondo went off for 20 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and five steals in front of a disappointed Bulls crowd.

Boston shot 51 percent from the field while committing just eight turnovers in an uncharacteristic defensive performance by the Bulls.

Player of the Game: Rajon Rondo, PG, Boston Celtics

Rajon Rondo was fantastic throughout—shooting efficiently, dishing to his teammates, crashing the glass and creating turnovers.

Both Pierce and Kevin Garnett ended up shooting poorly overall, but Rondo was there for them in the second half when it mattered most. That included throwing a pretty alley-oop to Garnett to put the Celtics ahead, 97-93, with 41 seconds remaining.

Up Next for Celtics

Boston will host the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. The Jazz have had an up-and-down season so far behind veteran point guard Mo Williams.

Up Next for Bulls

Chicago will visit the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. Point guard Goran Dragic leads the team in points per game and assists per game in Phoenix's first season without Steve Nash.
