I don’t think I’ve ever seen this shirt actually worn, and I certainly hope that I never do. If you can find me, pinch me all you want.
Like the Machine and the rest of Laker Nation, there’s no way I’m wearing green today, even if the Laker name or logo is on the garment. I’ll gladly wear purple and gold instead.
There’s a Laker home game tonight, thank goodness. I don’t know how the NBA schedulers managed to put zero Pacific Time home games on yesterday’s date, especially considering the dearth of sports coverage on television last night, but somehow they did.
Hopefully, the L.A. Bench Mob will actually start playing like we know they can. As Jordan Farmar points out in his Playboy blog, they’ve suffered some injuries and inconsistencies in the lineup, but it seems like they aren’t playing with the same intensity or sense of urgency they used to.
The entire team, for that matter, isn’t playing with passion, as they really do seem bored. Oftentimes defensive rotations are slow, and there is very inconsistent play at random stretches in games.
But the Lakers really need the Bench Mob to hit their stride, make their shots, and get some stops so that they can win some of these games and make a push for the best record in the NBA. The seven-game road trip is just around the corner, and it’d be nice to have a successful run without playing Kobe and Pau excessive minutes down the home stretch.
