NFL Power Rankings: Teams That Will Surge to Strong Finish

In the NFL, figuring out who will succeed in the playoffs can have very little with how teams look at the moment.

To find the teams that will roll in the playoffs, you have to figure out which teams will peak at the right time.

Langford's Week 11 NFL Power Rankings

1. Houston Texans

The Texans have been fantastic all season, and they have no apparent holes. They can win any style of game an opponent throws at them.

2. Atlanta Falcons

I'm worried about the Falcons. Their failures in the run game on offense and defense will hurt this team in the playoffs.

3. Baltimore Ravens

Don't read too much into the 55-point performance against the Raiders. They didn't have to work very hard for a lot of those points.

4. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers have to figure out how to avoid performances like they turned in this past week against the Rams. This team is not built to come from behind.

5. Denver Broncos

Why the Broncos Will Surge

The Broncos are playing as good as any team in football, and they will get even better.

Only in his legendary 2004 season, did Manning turn in a QB rating higher than the 108 he is posting right now, and he is only growing more comfortable in the offense.

He hasn't had a QB rating less than 100 or completed less than 70 percent of his passes since Week 3. The running game is struggling a bit and the are just 27th in yards per carry, but it is enough of a threat to keep defenses honest.

The defense is 10th in rushing and 11th in passing and in two of the last three it has held its opponent to 252 yards of total offense or fewer.

On top of this, they only have two teams better than .500 on the schedule. The Broncos have a legitimate shot at winning home field advantage in the AFC.

6. Chicago Bears

The Bears have a rough-upcoming schedule and a QB with a concussion. Not good.

7. New England Patriots

The Patriots have won five of their last six. They are just cruising, needing only to fix their pass defense to be unbeatable.

8. Green Bay Packers

Two years ago, the Packers flew under the radar before catching fire to end the season and run with that momentum to a Super Bowl championship. Last year, the Packers dominated in the regular season but fell off a bit at the end. Don't think this group of players hasn't learned from that.

The Packers started this season off slowly, but they have been getting better with each passing week, and the defense is worlds better than it was a season ago.

A year after owning the bottom of the passing rankings, they are 20th in passing yards allowed and the reality is the pass defense has been playing far better than that. They are seventh in yards allowed per pass.

The offense still relies on the passing game, but it is far more balanced than last year, and all of this balance will pay off for this team come playoff time.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers

It will be nearly impossible for this team to withstand any substantial loss of game time for Ben Roethlisberger

10. New York Giants

Is this just another November slump for the Giants, or are they crumbling? I won't count them out until they are eliminated.

11. Seattle Seahawks

No one wants to play this team at home, and the Seahawks don't seem to like to play on the road.

12. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have been fantastic, but their schedule is about to get a lot harder.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers' offense is on fire, and all of a sudden this is a team to be reckoned with.

14. Dallas Cowboys

If the Cowboys are going to make some noise, now is the time for them to do so. They are coming off a win and they have a favorable schedule ahead.

15. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings finally got back on track last week, but their schedule is brutal the rest of the way.

16. Philadelphia Eagles

Oh those Eagles. Nothing is going right for them, and a loss next week and they are in for a big plunge.

17. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals insane streak of close wins came crashing down and it revealed an supremely-flawed team.

18. Detroit Lions

The Lions have been showing signs of improvement, but last week's loss really killed their momentum.

19.  New Orleans Saints

I've been ripping apart the Saints all year. They are proving me wrong.

20. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals looked great last week. Now they have to turn that performance into the reality and not the exception.

21. Washington Redskins

This terrible defense is killing this team. RG3 simply doesn't have the weapons to outscore every team.

22. New York Jets

There is no reason for hope for Jets fans. This is an untalented and confused team.

23. Tennessee Titans

Did the Titans' defense finally figure something out, or are the Dolphins just that terrible now.

24. San Diego Chargers

This franchise needs a face lift, and that needs to start with getting some playmakers on offense.

25. Miami Dolphins

Miami was showing signs of life. Now they just look like one of the worst teams in football.

26. Buffalo Bills

You can't win in the NFL with a rush defense as bad as Buffalo's.

27. St. Louis Rams

The Rams can hang with any team. Unfortunately, this offense is far too easy to contain. They can't rely on fake punts every week.

28. Oakland Raiders

The Raiders new regime is off to a terrible start. This franchise has taken a step back.

29. Carolina Panthers

This team is a mess, and this team will look far different next year.

30. Cleveland Browns

The Browns offense scored 11 points fewer this past week than they had the previous two. Don't blame the offense though, the Browns had a bye.

31. Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville is an embarrassment. The stands were almost empty during the fourth quarter of their home game on Thursday night as the team failed to be competitive against the Colts.

32. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs weren't terrible this week! Unfortunately, they still lost.
