Syracuse Orange: Why Is Eric Devendorf Singled Out?

Giants27Analyst IMarch 17, 2009

Okay, so Eric Devendorf isn't the best kid around, but still, why is he being singled out?

Is it because some drunk girl—who wasn't his girlfriend and whom he didn't punch, but just pushed—was up in his face?

Or is it because he's white and the way he acts is the racist stereotype for blacks?

Could it be that after thinking he hit the three to beat UConn in overtime, he jumped on the scorer's table?

Which, by the way, Dwyane Wade did only a few days earlier as he signaled to the Miami crowd that American Airlines Arena was his [expletive] house.

Yes, Devendorf is a punk and he probably wouldn't be at Syracuse if it wasn't for his talent. And yes, he probably should have been kicked out a while ago.

But don't forget a few years back, now-UConn star A.J. Price and now-NBA player Marcus Williams stole laptops from the women's basketball team.

And oh yeah, Price got suspended for the whole year and Williams was suspended for about half a game.

Other fans out there, you have these kids too, the ones who get drunk and are out at 2 a.m. getting in fights.

So before you come after Devendorf, look in the mirror and realize that the guy who led you to the conference title, just might spend the rest of his life in jail.
