College Football Week 11 Picks: Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers

0 of 4

Head coach Les Miles is an important figure to handicap when making your college football picks on Saturday, as the LSU Tigers take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a Southeastern Conference affair, with the opening kickoff from Tiger Stadium scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The Tigers are currently 16-point home favorites in the Week 11 college football odds (courtesy of SBR Forum), while the total sits at 44.5.

Miles has won 18 of 19 games following a loss during his time at LSU, as the program prepares to take on a ranked opponent for the fifth consecutive game.

Let's take a closer look at this contest from a betting perspective, while offering an against-the-spread (ATS) pick along the way.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

1 of 4

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have fallen flat in their last two games against the Texas A&M Aggies and Alabama Crimson Tide, dropping their record to 2-15 against ranked opponents under the direction of head coach Dan Mullen.

I'm not expecting a turnaround in this spot, considering the rushing game has been held below the century mark in each of those contests.

LSU Tigers

2 of 4

LSU Tigers quarterback Zach Mettenberger completed a career-best 24-of-35 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown in last week's disappointing 21-17 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide as seven-point home underdogs, but it should give him plenty of confidence heading into this matchup.

The Tigers haven't lost back-to-back games inside Tiger Stadium since 2001, which fits nicely with the favorite being 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in this series.

Las Vegas Perspective

I reached out to Jimmy Vaccaro earlier this week about this high-profile affair. He serves as the public relations director for William Hill US, and he said, "LSU in an angry mood takes it out on the Bulldogs. Number will be pushed over the two-touchdown mark by game time."

Prediction

I'm going to recommend that readers back the LSU Tigers in this spot, as they've won their last 11 Homecoming games in Baton Rouge.
