University of Kentucky Sports: A Couple Quick Updates

Nate HargisContributor IMarch 15, 2009

The UK baseball team is off to a great start this season and today picked up a huge win over today over #3 LSU by a score of 5-2. Chris Rusin threw all seven innings and Marcus Nidiffer was 3-3 at the plate including a round tripper. Game 2 of the double header is under way right now and the game is tied at 1 in the second inning.

Tonight the Cats will find out who they will play on Tuesday night in the opening round of the NIT. A bracketology for the NIT has the Cats projected as a No. 4 seed with a potential matchup with Georgetown or UAB.

The NIT will give the Cats a chance to build on next year, they will get the chance to play more games together, and who knows maybe Gillispie will experiment with the lineup and show us some new things, but I would not hold my breath.

Obviously tonight is selection Sunday and I will have a new post up later tonight about the brackets and on Uk’s next opponent. and go MSU!
