Will the Patriots Pluck Julius Peppers from Panthers for a Pick?

According to league sources, the New England Patriots are primed to make an offer for the Panthers' disgruntled defensive end Julius Peppers.

As of right now, the Patriots are said to be offering a second-round draft pick for Peppers.

League sources have also noted that the Panthers don't have a first-round pick after trading it to the Philadelphia Eagles in order to move up and draft offensive lineman Jeff Otah. They aren't slated to make their first pick until the second round, with the 59th overall pick, pitting them near the bottom of the second round.

Should the Patriots in fact offer their second round choice in a trade for Peppers, then the Panthers will be able to draft a little higher, with the 34th (second pick) overall choice in the second round.
