Yet more good news, Brawn GP fans.
After a couple of days testing in Jerz (March 15 and 16) Brawn GP have kept impressing in Spain.
For the third-straight session, the new kids on the block (or should I say, old kids...in the new team) set fastest laps.
Brazilian veteran Rubens Barrichello managed to thrash the white beast around the track in 1:19.236.
There are only four teams taking part in the final test before the 2009 opener in Australia, but, encouragingly, the only team that really came close to Rubens was Renault (who eventually went on to top the time sheets).
Monday's test finished with the Brawn boys in second and third, having clocked in better times than a McLaren (piloted by the World Champion!) and a Williams.
As you can see from the times, Rubens and Fernando were very close. Arguably, if Alonso hadn’t made a mistake (driving into the tyre wall), Renault may well have been on top for the whole day, but as I say, could you imagine seeing similar results last year?
All that is left to do now is wait for Melbourne, cross your fingers and hope that the bookies are right and Brawn GP is indeed the team to watch!
