That's it for tonight's live commentary, thanks as always for joining me here.
I'll be back with more action this weekend, with Liverpool playing Chelsea in the Premier League as our main focus here on Bleacher Report. How many of tonight's players will have played their way into Brendan Rodgers' plans?
The battle for Europa League group stage qualification goes on, with the next round of fixtures to be played November 22, when the Reds will be back at Anfield.
See you next time!
A late goal in the first half from Lacina Traore gives Anzhi the win which puts them, for now at least, top of the Europa League Group A.
Liverpool will need to pick up a win at home to Young Boys next time out to put themselves back in with a good chance of going through to the knockout phase. For Anzhi though it is celebration time, and despite not being the better side they did create several chances worthy of goals.
Traore's moment of inspiration proves the difference in the end, with Henderson and Cole having Liverpool's best chances of the game.
Full time in Moscow:
Anzhi Makhachkala 1 Liverpool 0
90+3'—Another cross is sent over from the right, but it's too deep and runs out for a goal kick. That's probably it for the match.
90+2'—Final seconds for Liverpool, trying to get the ball into the box. Pacheco and Downing do well to fashion space but Assaidi's cross is cleared.
Anzhi sub: Carcela, the early sub, is going off extremeley slowly to be replaced by Lahiyalov.
Three minutes to be added on.
89'—Pacheco spreads the ball wide to Flanagan and his cut-back is good—but Henderson skies the shot, well wide and far too high. How much added time will the Spanish referee show?
87'—Shelvey is yellow carded now for a lunging slide which wins the ball but catches Carcela afterwards. Anzhi winding down time any way they can.
85'—It's truly desperate from Shelvey. The ball is laid off to him for a shot but he skews the effort entirely with the wall breaking quickly towards him, and the ball almost hits the corner flag. Liverpool have to build again.
85'—Assaidi wins a free kick, just five metres or so outside the box and on the left edge of the area. A chance to send the defenders forward again, and for Shelvey to put the ball in the box.
84'—Time running out for Liverpool but they are still passing and pressing and trying to work an opening. Anzhi looking fast and dangerous on the break though. Smolov shows that danger by running in from the left and shooting low, but Jones makes an easy stop.
81'—Downing does well down the left and digs out a cross and wins a corner. Wisdom can't reach the set piece though and Anzhi break, Zhirkov crossing for Jucilei...and Shelvey does well to get across and make a block.
78'—The game is opening up considerably now as Anzhi wait to make a change. Suso is pulling strings for the Reds down the centre, but Henderson's shot from range is curled over the crossbar.
Anzhi sub: Traore off, Fyodor Smolov on.
76'—BIG MISS FROM TRAORE!! Anzhi break and Carcela threads a great pass through the middle for Traore to run onto, clear and bearing down on goal—but he fires his shot wide of Jones' post. Let off for Liverpool, will it cost Anzhi in this game?
75'—LIVERPOOL WITH THE CHANCE!! Suso slaloms past two players and drills in a shot from 25 yards which the keeper fails to hold and Joe Cole is onto the rebound—but smacks his shot straight at Gabulov, who makes the block. That's Cole's last action of the game.
Liverpool sub: Cole off, Assaidi on.
74'—REALLY GOOD SAVE! Jones to the rescue again for Liverpool as he sticks out a left hand to block Traore's header from close range.
72'—More promising for the Reds who see Flanagan get the ball in a decent area to cross. Pacheco can't reach it, Suso shifts the ball but can't shoot and passes the ball through eventually—to Jamie Carragher, the furthest forward away player. He tries to cross but Anzhi clear and Eto'o breaks away.
70'—The Reds are trying to get themselves back into the game here but it's looking rather scrappy and Oussama Assaidi looks like the man who is going to get the call to lean the game in Liverpool's favour.
67'—Now Liverpool do get men forward, four in the attack—but Suso delays his pass too long and none of the options are left available, and the sub loses the ball. Shelvey has a word in his ear spoken by the referee after a foul on Traore.
65'—Suso looks to find Joe Cole with a sweeping pass across field, but Anzhi intercept. Cole and Pacheco haven't really gotten a chance to link up yet and are looking somewhat isolated, with the midfield not linking up with them in this half as they did in the first.
63'—Tagirbekov has a crack at goal from the left edge of the penalty box, but it goes flying across the face of goal. Jon Flanagan is booked for a challenge on the same Russian a few moments later, with his arm too high in an aerial duel according to the referee.
61'—Plenty of noise in the ground now, but it's still Liverpool who are making the better running on the ball. Anzhi lead though, 1-0.
Liverpool subs: Conor Coady and Adam Morgan go off, with Dani Pacheco and Suso coming on.
58'—Traore lets the ball run across his body and shoots low and left footed, but it's wide of both Jones' dive and the far post. Good chance that.
