3MB: Why Heath Slater and His Band Will Be Successful in WWE
Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre are the newest band in town, and they’re definitely here to stay.
Weeks before Raw 1000, former Nexus member Heath Slater became the victim of a weekly bashing by a WWE legend. Slater would boast about being an excellent wrestler, often subtlely referencing his upcoming opponent only to look like a fool minutes later.
Jinder Mahal, on the other hand, found himself in a short-lived feud with Ryback. He occasionally tried to best the current WWE Championship contender at his own game by defeating local jobbers in record time. Mahal was rumored to be in line for a push, but that never happened.
Drew McIntyre was hardly seen at all. McIntyre had already gotten his push, but his momentum crashed down as quickly as he rose to the top.
Now as a result of Heath Slater’s hazing by the WWE greats, their careers are saved with the formation of 3MB. Slater proved that he could be part of the comedic lower-tier talent, much like Zach Ryder and Santino Marella.
3MB can now fill the void of the segments previously occupied by Team Hell No since Kane and Daniel Bryan are already established in the tag team division. In fact, they are getting the Hollywood treatment based on their pre-taped interview segment last week on Raw.
Heath Slater is undoubtedly the leader of the group, but the others can still develop their characters as well.
The ceiling may not be as high as they would like, but 3MB is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. Since the group is mostly composed of would-be WWE mid-card talent, their pairing also establishes a status quo in the WWE roster. These three superstars are unquestionably talented in one way or another.
Their continuous appearances on Raw and SmackDown keep the trio in the minds of fans but this does not necessarily boost their individual clout. That’s not a bad thing, though; lower-tier superstars can often entertain on the mic while not necessarily entertaining in the ring.
3MB, however, can do both.
