For Manchester City, digging themselves out of a huge Group D hole must begin on Tuesday against Ajax. The Citizens find themselves at the bottom of the group with just a single point and will need a major rally in order to advance.

Samir Nasri put City on top in the first matchup between the two sides, but Ajax pulled off a stunner by rattling off three straight goals. A similar performance in the rematch would put them back in the "Group of Death" mix with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Here's a look at the viewing information for the clash followed by a preview and prediction.

Match Preview

Manchester City's season can be summed up by looking at the club's scoreless draw with West Ham over the weekend. The Citizens dominated possession, created several scoring chances and could have easily walked away with three points, but they weren't able to finish.

Even though City has been able to produce solid league results early in the league campaign, they aren't playing at the same level that allowed them to become champions last season. And it's showed in Champions League action.

The inability to score against West Ham came despite a starting lineup that featured Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli. Roberto Mancini has tried several different combinations and nothing has clicked quite yet.

That being said, it's only a matter of time before City gets back on track. Whether it happens in time to pull off a miraculous comeback in Group D is another question. They need all three points against Ajax if that's going to happen.

If nothing else, the Citizens are catching Ajax at the right time. They are coming off one of their worst performances of the season in a 2-0 loss to Vitesse, so the result will be determined by which version of Ajax shows up for the rematch.

Ultimately, City has more talent and can't afford to drop any points on home field, or the Champions League run will be over before it ever really started. Expect an inspired showing and a narrow victory for the Citizens.

Prediction: Manchester City 2, Ajax 1
