Kansas Or Missouri: Who's The Real Big XII Champion?
As March Madness approaches and the brackets are released me and many other Big XII fans are left wondering "Who is the Big XII Champion?".
Do you say the regular season champs, Kansas Jayhawks are the champions? Or the tournament winning Missouri Tigers the champs?
That is one question I doubt anybody will be for sure on.
Kansas finished the regular season with a 14-2 record in conference which is two games better than the third place Missouri Tigers.
But, the Tigers came out in the tournament and put down the 11 seed, the seven seed, and then the nine seed in the finals. Doesn't sound to tough does it?
So then you would think "Who won the head to head match ups?". Well it happens to be tied 1-1. Missouri scored on a last second shot in Columbia to beat the young Jayhawks 62-60.
Then in Lawrence the Jayhawks pounded the Tigers 90-65.
So now I'm having a hard time saying who is the rightful champions of the Big XII. Everybody thought through most of the year that the Oklahoma Sooners (who finished second) would win the Big XII.
But the Sooners losing to Texas and then both Missouri and Kansas puts them behind the Jayhawks in second.
So as of now I have absolutely no clue who the real champion is. Do you guys know? Because I sure don't.
