Florida will have every opportunity to look ahead to its showdown with Florida State at the end of the month in the next two weeks.

With Louisiana-Lafayette and Jacksonville State on the horizon, would you blame the Gators if they did?

They better not. Especially not this weekend.

Louisiana-Lafayette is a dangerous team capable of pulling the upset if taken lightly. They are coming off of blowing out Louisiana-Monroe by 16 points on the road—the same team that defeated Arkansas and lost close games to Auburn and Baylor.

Florida better not look ahead. Let's take a look at this intriguing showdown in more detail.

Betting Line (via Covers)

Over/Under: 50.5, Spread: Florida (-26.5)

This is an interesting spread and over/under option. Louisiana-Lafayette is a team that scores often, but Florida's defense will be the best defense they play all season.

A good bet would be going under with the points, but I think Louisiana-Lafayette has a great chance to cover. Take the Ragin' Cajuns with the points.

BSC/Top-25 Implications

Florida is right in the thick of things for a BCS bid and appears to be out of the picture for a BCS championship game barring a bizarre finish.

However, the Gators still find themselves in perfect position to finish in a BCS game which is more than many suspected prior to the season. The Gators are 8-1 with three non-conference games remaining. Two of the three (Louisiana-Lafayette and Jacksonville St.) should be easy victories.

But then comes No. 10 Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla. A BCS berth may come down to that final game.

Florida must stay clean until that game on Nov. 24. They can't afford to slip up against a team like Louisiana-Lafayette. They better not look ahead.

Louisiana-Lafayette Player to Watch: Terrance Broadway, QB

Terrance Broadway is a dual threat at the quarterback position. He leads the way offensively via the air with 1,624 yards and is second on the team in rushing with 320 yards. Broadway has accounted for 17 touchdowns this season.

Broadway is coming off his best performance of the season, racking up 460 yards of total offense and five combined touchdowns against Louisiana-Monroe.

Florida Player to Watch: Mike Gillislee, RB

Florida standout senior running back Mike Gillislee hasn't recorded 100 yards or a rushing touchdown in four straight games. Prior to his four-game drought, Gillislee scored seven touchdowns in five games while rushing for over 100 yards three times.

With a shaky passing offense (118th overall) led by Jeff Driskel, the Gators will rely heavily on the run game and Gillislee

Expect the running back to touch the ball 20 or more times on Saturday while leading the Gators' attack.

Prediction: Florida 35, Louisiana-Lafayette 13

Florida will be facing a defense that is ranked 70th in points allowed. Gillislee will lead the way for the Gators on the ground and even Driskel will find success through the air.

With BCS implications on the line down the stretch, Florida will not be lulled to sleep by a team that is clearly inferior.
