You remember the Florida State Seminoles, right? The team that started out the season 5-0 and climbed up to No. 3 in the AP Top 25?

After their stunning defeat at North Carolina State, they were written off completely. Not only did they have a loss, but they wouldn't have an opportunity to post many impressive victories playing in the ACC.

It's rare that two teams finish the season with zero losses, so having a loss early in the season isn't the end of the world for most teams. Georgia and Florida sit at No. 5 and No. 6 in the latest BCS rankings, despite having a loss.

But Florida State hasn't let any outside negativity affect them. They've beaten teams by over 30 points per game even with the loss against the Wolfpack. They'll face Virginia Tech and Maryland over the next couple weeks.

But their real chance to jump back into the spotlight will come on Nov. 24th when they host the Gators. Florida has just one loss on the season, and a victory over them would prove to everyone that the Seminoles' lone defeat was an aberration.

The problem for FSU is that they sit at No. 10 in the BCS, and until the playoff starts up in a couple years, only the top two teams will get the opportunity to win it all.

They've dropped a spot from last week, but they aren't playing like a team that's losing any momentum.

EJ Manuel is completing 70 percent of his passes and has 16 touchdowns on the season. He's spreading the ball around to multiple receivers, and the rushing attack is averaging over 230 yards per game.

But the real story has been their defense, which is giving up just 12 points per game. They've allowed 30 points just once, and that was to an explosive Clemson offense, in a game they ended up winning anyway.

Florida State may have left the minds of college football fans, but now's the time to tune back in.

The road to a BCS title is rocky at best, and they'll need a lot of help to even get within earshot. But don't be surprised to see them making noise in a BCS bowl in January.

It's easy to write off an ACC team that's lost a game, because the conference isn't very strong this season. But that doesn't mean that Florida State isn't deserving of some attention. Aside from the letdown against NC State, they've blown everybody's doors off.

If Florida isn't careful, they'll be handed their second loss by FSU in late November.

The chase for the BCS title is the most compelling college football story at the moment. But Florida State is proving that not only have they overcome a tough loss, they're ready to dish out some punishment when the stakes are raised.

Not many teams right now would look forward to playing the 'Noles in a BCS game.
