AP College Football Poll 2012: Complete Week 11 Standings Released

Patrick ClarkeCorrespondent INovember 4, 2012

College football fans will have to wait another week to find out which of the six undefeated FBS teams are true contenders and which are merely pretenders in disguise.

Half a dozen teams entered Week 10 with flawless records, and every single one is left standing heading into Week 11.

None of those teams came closer to suffering their first loss of the season than Alabama. If not for a clutch drive late in the game, the Crimson Tide would have been stunned by the Tigers again in November. Instead, Nick Saban's bunch remained poised and edged LSU 21-17 to move to 9-0.

Notre Dame survived a thriller as well in Week 10, squeaking out a 29-26 win over Pittsburgh in three overtimes in South Bend. The Irish will certainly be looked at more closely over the next three weeks after struggling to beat a weak opponent at home.

In the other Saturday night prime-time clashes, Oregon's dynamic offense overwhelmed USC, and Bill Snyder's Kansas State Wildcats won easily over Oklahoma State thanks to a dominant first-half performance.

As for the undefeated programs flying under the radar, Ohio State trounced Illinois in Columbus, and Louisville blew the doors off Temple after a slow start at home.

What's Coming Up

Alabama will host an explosive Texas A&M squad in Tuscaloosa on Saturday in what promises to be one of the weekend's most entertaining matchups. The Aggies possess a sensational freshman quarterback in Johnny Manziel and have yet to lose on the road this season.

Elsewhere, Oregon will stay on the road and battle Pac-12 foe California, while Kansas State heads south to take on an underrated TCU squad. Still, the Wildcats will be heavy favorites.

Notre Dame is expected to cruise as well. Brian Kelly's Fighting Irish will be in Chestnut Hill to take on ACC basement dweller Boston College.

Ohio State is on a bye this coming weekend, while Louisville will visit Syracuse looking to make it four straight over the Orange.

Two big-time Week 11 showdowns to look out for not involving undefeated teams are Mississippi State vs. LSU and Oregon State vs. Stanford. Both matchups have mighty BCS implications, and both will pit bitter conference rivals against one another.

After a week in which only one of the AP poll's Top 15 teams lost, Week 11 can hopefully provide some clarity and answers for college football fans. Here is how the AP rankings shake out after 10 weeks.
