World Baseball Classic a Huge Dissapointment

Lawrence Blanchard by Contributor Written on March 15, 2009

Is it just me or is the World Baseball Classic a huge disappointment? When they first started this tournament it was my understanding that the teams would be comprised of the best players from each country, but it turned out some of the teams were comprised of the best players a country could find through a distant relation. The Italian team has 19 players born right here in the USA 19 of the 28 members to be exact. Mexico has 5 US born players, Puerto Rico has 4, and the list goes on and on. Are you telling me that in these countries there are not enough players to fill out a roster? C'mon. When they first announced the tournament I think baseball enthusiasts were excited that you may see some little known world talent on a big stage, instead as usual we got the same old players and very little excitement.
