Wilde Lake senior Moise Larose orally committed to the University of Maryland on Thursday night, Coach Mike Harrison said in an e-mail. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman had originally pledged to Rutgers in August. Harrison said Larose cited the chance to play close to home and the University of Maryland’s highly regarded criminology program, his intended major, as the top factors that influenced the switch. He joins Friendship Collegiate’s Derwin Gray as the second local lineman to orally commit to the Terrapins for the Class of 2013, which can become official when players can start signing on Feb. 6.
