There was lots of talk about the job security —or insecurity — of Chargers coach Norv Turner going into Thursday night’s game. Some in San Diego reported that if the Chargers lost to the Chiefs, a news conference was in the works to announce Turner’s dismissal. Imagine how that must make Romeo Crennel feel. His job status is in peril as well, and a loss in the next game at Pittsburgh would drop the Chiefs to 1-8 going into a three-game homestand in a half-empty stadium. That, as much as the won-loss record, could compel Clark Hunt to make a coaching change to pacify fans who are turning from passionate to apathetic.
