It was something you didn't expect to hear, chants of "Spen-cer Hawes! Spen-cer Hawes!"
Opening night for the 76ers resulted in a nine-point win over the Denver Nuggets, and a newfound love from the fans for Hawes. The big man led the Sixers in scoring with 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting and 12 rebounds. However, what was most impressive was Hawes' defensive presence with five blocks.
