Steven Gerrard the Most Underrated Footballer in Modern Football?

Muhammad Maklet SafinContributor IMarch 15, 2009

"King" Steven Gerrard has performed consistently since 2000 and still he is not praised like Messi, Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Cristiano Ronaldo. He is the player who has carried Liverpool alone after Michael Owen's departure to Real Madrid and he has always been a big threat while playing an big important game—not like Cristiano Ronaldo when there's a need CR is not there.

In the 2005 Champions League final he headed that inspirational goal and won the penalty which Xabi Alonso scored. And in the FA Cup he has scored thrilling comeback goals and still he is going best alongside Messi but at the end of year in the award ceremonies he will even not get nominated just like last three years.

2005 UEFA Champions League thrilling performance and good performance in EPL too, 2006  consistency and Zidane, Ronaldinho, or John Terry deserved that award but Cannavaro grabed it, 2007 another good year but again not in final nomination.

in 2008 as a Liverpool fan for me Gerrard was better than Torres, 21 Goals and 21 Assists means 42 contributions and C Ronaldo had 48 contributions with 42 Goals and 6 Assists.
