Two of the most anticipated games of the college football season are set for this Saturday, and a few more battles between ranked team will ensure for a day full of action.

No. 1 Alabama traveling to take on No. 5 LSU in Death Valley is the marquee matchup, while No. 4 Oregon will face its toughest test of the season against No. 17 USC.

Everything else will take a back seat to these contests, but there are still several other exciting matchups.

Here are my picks for each of the five best games this weekend.

No. 1 Alabama over No. 5 LSU

This rematch of last year’s national championship game has the potential to be the game of the regular season.

Alabama faces the difficult task of playing in Baton Rouge, but this team is full of confidence after blowing out every opponent it has played. No team in the country is as balanced as the Crimson Tide, while LSU has struggled on offense.

This game will come down to which offense can make more plays against these extremely talented defenses. A.J. McCarron and the Tide will roll to victory in this contest.

No. 4 Oregon over No. 17 USC

USC was a popular pick to win a national championship in the preseason, but that seems awfully long ago. When No. 4 Oregon heads to Los Angeles on Saturday, that memory will seem even more distant.

While the Trojans are certainly talented, defensive flaws were exposed this past week against Arizona. Oregon, in contrast, has been nearly perfect this season.

This game is vitally important to the Ducks, as they will have to impress against ranked opponents in order to earn a spot in the national championship game. Expect Chip Kelly’s team to be extremely motivated in this game, and that will lead to a convincing victory.

No. 2 Kansas State over No. 24 Oklahoma State

This is the most lopsided matchup between ranked teams this week, and will also be one of the least exciting.

Collin Klein has the Wildcats playing remarkable well right now, and all the Heisman Trophy talk surrounding the senior signal-caller is completely deserves. He has 28 total touchdowns this season and will add to that total in this game.

Kansas State’s perfect record will remain intact after this game.

No. 23 Texas over No. 18 Texas Tech

This Big 12 showdown may attract less attention that KSU taking on OSU, but this game will be significantly more competitive.

Both teams are 3-2 against conference opponents and will desperately be fighting to avoid another loss.

Texas has the eighth-highest scoring offense in the country and Texas Tech ranks 12th. This will be a shootout and entertaining game to watch. Ultimately, the Longhorns will score last and win in a close game.

No. 15 Mississippi State over No. 16 Texas A&M

The Bulldogs and the Aggies will also be overshadowed by a more hyped matchup between teams in their conference, but this is sure to be an exciting game.

LSU and Alabama will steal all the attention in the SEC, but the contest between Mississippi State and Texas A&M pits strength against strength. The Aggies have the third-most potent offense in the country while the Bulldogs’ defense is loaded with talent.

These two teams will put on an entertaining game, and Mississippi State’s defense will make enough plays to squeeze out a victory.
