According to a blog post on the Orlando Sentinel Web site on Friday, former Georgetown star and current Magic assistant coach Patrick Ewing would be interested in interviewing for the Wizards' head coaching job after the season.

Citing people close to Ewing, who served as an assistant with the Wizards during the 2002-03 season, Ewing would be "receptive" if President Ernie Grunfeld has interest in interviewing him.

According to the Sentinel, Ewing will not publicly comment about specific jobs that might open after the season out of respect for those interim coaches currently coaching the teams.

The Wizards are not expected to retain interim coach Ed Tapscott, who took over for Eddie Jordan after a 1-10 start to the season.

Grunfeld, who ran the New York Knicks when Ewing starred for the team in the 1990s, has said only that the coaching situation will be evaluated after the season.
