Illinois advanced to the Big Ten semifinals with a 60-50 win over Michigan on Friday. Mike Davis led the way for the Illini with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Illinois defense held Michigan to just 33.3 percent shooting. DeShawn Sims was the high scorer for Michigan with 15 points while Manny Harris was held to nine points on just 3-of-11 shooting.
Purdue defeated Penn State 79-65 on Friday as Robbie Hummel came to life. Hummel was 4-of-7 from behind the arc and finished with 20 points. As a team, the Boilermakers shot 55.6 percent from the floor including a scorching 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from three-point land.
