Five Auto Racing Movies to Watch During NASCAR's Idle Week
Now that we have reached the first idle weekend of the Nascar Sprint Cup season, I have an extra six hours to fill.
Instead of opting for yard work or cleaning, I think it's time to break out a racing movie or two to fill the time.
Here is my list of the top five racing movies. Not going to list anything animated or old school movies with a few sceens of races.
One other rule: Driven is banned as it is up there with Chicago as the worst movie I ever have seen.
No. 5. Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift—
Ever tried to pull the parking brake to drift a corner? Me neither, but it sure would be fun to try (maybe in a rental).
No. 4. 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story—
ESPN movie on Dale Sr. that spanned three decades of Earnhardt racing. Moonshine and Carolina racing back in the old days.
No 3. Cannonball Run—
Star filled and hilarious. "We're here to win, ain't we? If you're gonna be a bear, BE A GRIZZLY!". Words to live by.
No 2. Days of Thunder—
Our second moonshine entry. Guys love the "rubbing is racing" part. Gals love that Tom is in it and wonder why Dr. Claire Lewicki would wear an all white suit to a Nascar Race.
No. 1. Talledega Nights—
The Ballad of Ricky Bobby- "If your not first, your last" and this one will "come at you like a spider monkey". Cause "first you shake it, then you bake it".
