Things just got awfully interesting, didn’t they?
Although the Heisman favorite kept up his tremendous pace, some of the other players vying for the award had bright lights to make an impression on Saturday. One of those candidates just happens to be a defensive player, and what a performance he put forth.
There’s plenty of time to both gain (and lose) votes, but our top five is beginning to take shape. Oregon running back Kenjon Barner absolutely should be in this discussion when it comes to the award, and he’ll have a showcase to make his case next weekend playing at USC.
A wide receiver also made his way into the top five for the first time this year, although it’ll be interesting to see how long he stays around. Things change week to week on the Heisman front, and something tells me this will probably be the case going forward.
