The Miami Dolphins took a big step toward a playoff spot on the road against the New York Jets in Week 8, winning by a score of 30-9.
Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill left the game in the first quarter with an injured left knee and quadriceps muscle (h/t AP), but Matt Moore filled in nicely in his stead, passing for 131 yards with one touchdown and zero turnovers.
Mark Sanchez, on the other hand, continued his miserable 2012 campaign with another bad performance, completing just 28 of 54 passes for 283 yards with one touchdown, a lost fumble and a crucial red-zone interception that cost his team much-needed points.
Reggie Bush split time with Daniel Thomas, and the two of them combined for 101 yards and a touchdown.
The play of the game came when Tim Tebow failed to block Jimmy Wilson on a punt attempt. Wilson blocked the punt, and Olivier Vernon fell on the ball in the end zone for an easy touchdown that put the Dolphins up by a score of 10-0 with four minutes still remaining in the first quarter.
The Jets fell to 3-5 and will have a week off to think about things, while the Dolphins improved to 4-3 and travel to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9.
