Who is this Alex Smith guy, anyway?
Going 18-19 with three touchdowns on Monday Night Football is more of a Brady or Brees type of thing, isn't it? Well, not exactly. Alex Smith torched a supposed "strong" Arizona defense on national television and reignited the "is he or isn't he a Super Bowl quarterback" debate.
The hot-handed Smith, flanked by his running mates Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter (oh, and that high-caliber defense) return home for another division battle against the St. Louis Rams, with both teams coming off a bye.
As for St. Louis, its 3-5 record may not impress many on paper, or even give them a playoff nod, but it is promising for a fanbase that's languished in obscurity for just about a decade. Sam Bradford looks more comfortable as a pro quarterback and the defense is young and undeterred, led by Chris Long, James Laurinaitis and secondary newcomer Cortland Finnegan, who brings a lot of spice to the Rams recipe.
So, it's strength on strength in the "City by the Bay" in Week 10. Which team's game plan will overcome the other's and who will emerge the victor in this NFC West clash?
