CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jeff Gordon technically owns part of the Hendrick Motorsports team that fields a car for Jimmie Johnson.

So it would make sense if Gordon said that Johnson was the favorite to win this year’s Sprint Cup title. The five-time Cup champion trails Brad Keselowski by seven points with four races remaining. Denny Hamlin is third, 20 points back while Clint Bowyer is 25 points behind.

Of the four, only Johnson has won a championship.

So, yes, Gordon does believe his teammate could be considered the driver to beat even though he’s second with four races remaining.
