In news that should come as a surprise to no one who has been following recent developments, high school phenom Andrew Wiggins officially made the decision today to reclassify to the class of 2013 (per Eric Prisbell of USA Today, who was the first to report it).
Andrew Wiggins' father, Mitchell Wiggins, told Prisbell that his son was doing very well academically and that he felt ready to show the nation that he will be college basketball's best player next year.
He also reiterated that Wiggins' recruitment is wide open, which is sure to make everyone in the Big Blue Nation (especially those that already assumed he was going to Kentucky) cringe a bit.
The move will put him at the No. 1 position on virtually every recruiting board, with Jabari Parker sliding to the No. 2 spot. It also makes the already-impressive class of 2013 that much better.
I know that I've mentioned more than a few times that Wiggins is very interested in other schools besides UK, but Kentucky still remains a very strong candidate for his services. If Wiggins does commit to the Wildcats, it would make John Calipari's 2013 recruiting class one of the best in college basketball history.
