Liverpool's defense has improved massively since the Udinese game and Brad Jones must surely be in contention to start the derby match, regardless of Pepe Reina's fitness.
My man of the match tonight was unquestionable Oussama Assaidi. He was a constant threat on Liverpool's left flank and must surely be in with a chance of starting the derby on Sunday.
GROUP A UPDATE: Young Boys have beaten Udinese 2-1 and that means that after three games, Liverpool top the group with six points. Anzhi and Udinese both have four points and Young Boys are still bottom but now have three points.
90+3 - Full time whistle sounds and it's all over at Anfield. A deserved win for Liverpool, who were by far the better team. It really should have been more comprehensive but Liverpool will take the 1-0 win and a third successive clean sheet.

90+2 - Assaidi breaks down the left and plays the ball back to Suarez who tries to let the ball. Run. A clear foul on him but the referee makes another poor decision and fails to award a certain freekick.
90 + 1 - End to end action. Raheem Sterling beats a couple of defenders but can't quite get his shot away. Anzhi break and Carcela flashes a shot well wide at the other end.
He's played two careless passes which lead to Anzhi chances, but Stewart Downing has been good in the second half. Solid defending there at Carcela. And of course he scored the goal!
87 - Chance for Anzhi. Downing plays a careless pass and Carcela has a shot from 20 yards out. Straight at Jones though.
86 - CHANCE for Liverpool. Liverpool play out nicely from the back and once again it's Assaidi causing problems. His squared pass finds Steven Gerrard 25 yards out but his shot goes over the bar.
84 - Liverpool are knocking the ball around nicely and probing this Anzhi defense.

80 - GOAL DISALLOWED! Daniel Agger heads the ball from the keepers hand while he isn't paying attention and finishes nicely only to have the goal ruled out and receive a yellow card for his efforts.

79 - LIVERPOOL SUBSTITUTION - Joe Allen for Jonjo Shelvey
78 - ANZHI SUBSTITUTION - Lakhiyalov for Boussoufa.
GROUP A UPDATE: Young Boys 2-1 Udinese

76 - Chance for Anzhi! Boussofa forces a save from Brad Jones after a nice move from Anzhi.
74 - TERRIBLE REFEREEING! Oussama Assaidi is clearly fouled in the box and the referee fails to give what is a stone wall penalty. He then books Luis Suarez for complaining after he gets bundled off the ball.
FACT ATTACK: When Liverpool signed Martin Skrtel in 2007 from Zenit St. Petersburg, Anzhi were a second division team. Money really has made all the difference for them.
GROUP A UPDATE: Young Boys are now 2-0 up at home to Udinese! If results stay the same, Liverpool will be top of the group tonight.
69 - Chance for Anzhi! Liverpool careless in possession and Downing gives the ball away. The ball falls to Eto'o but his shot is straight at Brad Jones.
68 - Game has gone a little quiet in the last ten minutes. Liverpool still keeping the ball well but allowing Anzhi to edge back into the game.
Eto'o is dropping deeper and deeper off the front with Traore now leading the line for Anzhi.
SUBSTITUTION FOR ANZHI - Smolov replaced by Traore.
SUBSTITUTION FOR ANZHI - Agalarov replaced by Logashov
Andre Wisdom grows in confidence game after game and he has been excellent again for Liverpool tonight. Excellent defensively and calm in possession.
