Like a Devin Hester punt return or a Justin Verlander start, I really thought this thing was going the distance.

Now I am lost in a fog of confusion, uncertain what is real anymore, because I just found out that Mark Sanchez and Eva Longoria have broken up.

Okay, we maybe—perhaps, kinda—saw this coming.

TMZ reports the NY Jets quarterback and Hollywood starlet are Splitsville, bringing to an end a relationship that was several months old.

Eva's rep has confirmed...the two have officially called it quits after several months of dating.

Chalk up another loss for Sanchez (25 years old)—who already took a beating from the Patriots this weekend. As for Eva (37 years old) least she won't have to remove any body ink from her body this time.

As the report alludes, Longoria is in the process of removing a tattoo from the back of her neck that once read clearly, "nine." That would be a reference to her ex-husband's number—Tony Parker.

It would seem Longoria was spot on when she told pal and Extra host Mario Lopez that she and Sanchez weren't the least bit serious.

As we reported in September, the relationship was confirmed by Longoria when she giggled her way to a response of, "Mark and I are, you know, fine. We're happy just dating," while on the show.

Well, it seems they were very much just dating because the relationship was just as brief as any of Sanchez's other rumored flings.

Sadly, the fairy tale romance ends here, in Week 8 of the NFL season.
