This article is a little late, but Laker fans do not need to panic.
It is frustrating to see the Lakers continue with injuries with Pau Gasol going down. Fortunately Gasol's injury is not major and he will be back hopefully by the end of March. Phil Jackson's last report was March 26 at the earliest.
In the meantime Chris Mihm is expected to be returning soon and should provide some assistance. While many would question Mihm's ability to contribute, I want to remind them that before his injuries Mihm was a decent player. It has been his nagging injuries that have prevented him from playing. If he is past those which appears to be the case, he will be able to provide an inside presence which will help the other players finish more plays inside the paint.
I am not calling Mihm the saviour, just some needed help. Gasol coming back will then restore order.
I will add that while this season may seem hopeless with all of the injuries, nothing could be further from the truth. A championship team learns to play through the bad calls made by referees and through the injuries such as Kobe Bryant has been doing. This is called diversity.

With the way the Lakers have been playing, is anyone really panicking? That would be a waste of perfectly good energy. This is the best year in 3 years. Lakers fans should be very encouraged.

Last week when Pau Gasol went injured and the Lakers were left without Gasol, without Andrew Bynum and no Chris Mihm or Trevor Ariza there was legitimate concern that they would be four loses and zero wins at the end of the road trip - that would be a reason to panic since a four game losing streak would have easily put them in sixth season and concern in making the playoffs if the losing continued. Since I wrote this article, the Lakers have pulled together three nice wins without Gasol
