The National Media Doesn't Know What to Do with Penn State
The national media is in a hard spot right now.
They spent the majority of the last year kicking Penn State, while we as a school, student body and alumni base were on the ground. When players left and a legend died, they predicted the football program (and school) would shrivel up and die and follow up with a decade long recovery. This was reinforced by the Ohio and Virginia losses. Now, a little more than half way through the season, Penn State looks like the most complete team in the Big Ten and the media is confused about where to stand.
Quite frankly, there is a lot of egg on their collective faces. The faithful and delusional, like myself, stated that this is STILL Penn State. A lot of people brushed us off as ignorant fanboys. Frankly, they were right to do so, but they were wrong to not look at the remaining facts. They thought Penn State football was nothing more than Joe Paterno and now they are finding out that this school is so much more than one man. I'd like to believe Coach Paterno is smiling because he knew this.
