The release of NBA 2K13 was one of the most anticipated debuts in the history of video games, and the hype around the game was well deserved; the game is flat-out awesome.
With the real NBA season approaching fast—regular-season basketball starts Oct. 30—video game fans must make sure they have this game in their collection before the first tip off.
Between the hype over the stellar Summer Olympic run by Team USA and the lack of competition from NHL hockey, the excitement surrounding the league this season is through the roof.
The fans can get in on the action by picking up NBA 2K13.
The Western Conference
When the video game fans finally pick up NBA 2K13, they will have the chance to play with all of the teams in the new-look Western Conference. While there are perennial favorites like the San Antonio Spurs or the Oklahoma City Thunder, this season is all about the renovated franchises.
Everyone wants to talk about the Los Angeles Lakers and the addition of stars like Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, but the Western Conference is full of secondary storylines that are just as intriguing.
With teams like the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers revamping their teams via free agency and the 2012 NBA draft, real NBA fans will play as every team in the game before all is said and done.
The Eastern Conference
As great as the Western Conference will be to play, this year’s edition of NBA 2K13 is all about the Eastern Conference and the powerhouses that dwell there. While all the kids will be jumping on the Miami Heat bandwagon, there are so many other intriguing angles video gamers can take.
From the Chicago Bulls to the New York Knicks, the talent level across the Eastern Conference is much deeper than the West, but it will be teams like the Brooklyn Nets and revamped Philadelphia 76ers that have basketball fans ready for action.
With an influx of free agents and elite draft picks making their way to Eastern Conference teams, even the most causal NBA fan will fall in love with this game; if they haven’t already!
The 1992 and 2012 U.S. Men's National Teams
As much as it will be great to get the regular season started by playing some of the actual matchups on opening night, there is no better feature in the entire NBA 2K13 game than the ability to pit the 1992 Dream Team against the 2012 U.S. Men's Olympic team.
Nothing will check a fan’s enthusiasm about the start of the NBA season more than watching today’s biggest stars getting destroyed by the stars of yesteryear.
Who doesn’t want to start the year off with Larry Bird dominating LeBron James?
Before the 2012-2013 NBA regular season begins, every NBA fans needs to gain a bit of perspective on the sport that we love so much by watching as the Dream Team ends the debate of which team was better by blowing out the 2012 Olympic gold medalists.
