NFL Coaches on the Hot Seat Through Week 7
How you gonna get fired on your day off?
Smokey must be asking former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo that very question after Eagles head coach Andy Reid made him a scapegoat for the team's 3-3 start. Obviously, Reid is in desperation mode as his seat is starting to heat up. He knows finishing 2012 at .500 or worse gets him fired. Instead of making some kind of move on the offensive side of the ball—where the problems reside in Philadelphia this season—he axes Castillo?
Another coach that must be feeling the heat is Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera. He can't get any kind of consistency from either his offensive or defensive coordinator, he's asking his superstar quarterback to do way too much and he keeps losing close games. I mean, he just got out-coached by Jason Garrett. That's not going to look good on the resume.
Of course, no hot-seat video would be complete without Mr. Hot Seat himself, Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur. One week after giving the city of Cleveland hope that his team was finally turning the proverbial corner, he comes into Indy and stinks up Lucas Oil with a bevy of questionable decisions, including the benching of his star running back, Trent Richardson. I'm sorry, I know you need to "teach him a lesson" for whatever reason, but whatever lesson he needs to learn can be learned on the field. He's not developing into an NFL player on the bench.
There are more coaches on the hot seat this week, and we list them in the video above. Take a look and let us know in the comments below where you agree or disagree and who you think we might have missed.
