New Orleans Saints at Denver Broncos Preview and Predictions

Josh Zerkle@JoshZerkleChief Writer IIIOctober 21, 2012

It's difficult to not boil down Saints at Broncos as "Drew Brees versus Peyton Manning." At the same time, it seems equally unfair to these two future Hall of Famers to do otherwise.

New Orleans (2-4) will welcome Joe Vitt back to its coaching staff, as his suspension over the BountyGate investigation came to an end the instant after the Saints beat the Buccaneers in Week 7.

Vitt comes back at an ideal time; the team has won two straight, with Brees having thrown eight touchdown passes in those games. Unfortunately, it trails the undefeated Atlanta Falcons in the race for the NFC South title.

Denver (3-3), on the other hand, has a share of the AFC West lead thanks largely to the Broncos' incredible comeback over San Diego in their Week 6 Monday night game. Manning threw for over 300 yards in that game, the fourth time this season he has done so. Peyton is beginning to gel with his current stable of receivers, a unit which happens to include former Colts Brandon Stokely and Jacob Tamme.
