The Washington Redskins thought they had the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants beat on a brilliant RGIII bomb to Santana Moss—only before surrendering their own bomb to Eli Manning and Victor Cruz.
That sequence pretty much sums up where the Redskins are right now—dazzling on offense while struggling on defense. While I know there are Redskins fans who are grumbling about defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, I actually think he's doing what he can with what he has. For now, the Redskins will continue to try to put up points in bunches and hope to force a turnover or two along the way on defense.
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, after their nationally televised beatdown of division rival Cincinnati, it seems rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated. Not only that, but they seem to have found some kind of time machine and gotten back in touch with their old-school ways, especially their running attack with previously-buried-on-the-depth-chart Sunday night stars Jonathan Dwyer and Chris Rainey.
